About Our West Valley Chapter
During Pre-COVID-19 times, we only offered a senior program. This popular program was offered in-person 4 days a week from 10am to 3pm and included a nutritious vegetarian lunch. However, since COVID-19, we are offering virtual programs using Zoom. Now our programs are 5 days a week from 9am to 12:30pm.
Our seniors enjoy various types of activities like Yoga, meditation, singing, creative writing, learning Spanish and listening to presentations on relevant topics by experts. These programs keep our seniors engaged socially, mentally, and emotionally. Many seniors have commented that these programs enhance the quality of their life, add years to it and fill it with happiness.
India Community Center (ICC), with its Main Center in Milpitas, has launched its West Valley chapter to serve the communities in Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno and neighbouring areas.
The programs would be targeted towards the Indian American Seniors, Adults, Youth and Kids in this area.
With the launch of the ICC West Valley chapter, we hope to address several unmet needs in the community. The overwhelming feedback from the community was to figure out a way to address the feelings of isolation and stress among the youth. This prompted us to drive a program supporting youth, providing them an open and safe platform to build peer to peer support and mentorship programs.
We are also adding comprehensive wellness programs for adults which includes fitness programs such as yoga, pilates, hiking and Bombay jam and holistic nutrition programs. In addition to that we have programs for women empowerment, food services for the needy, youth sports programs, classical performing arts and much more.
ICC West Valley programs have started with a “bang” with “Dhoom Machale,” a weekly musical event for all ages. We pre-launched our fitness seminar series on “elements of fitness” and successfully launched pilates and family yoga classes.
